Yesterday I mailed our I-800A application along with the required supporting documents to USCIS (U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services).
The I-800A is the "Application for Determination of Suitability to Adopt a Child from a Convention Country". With the application, we had to send a copy of the homestudy, copies of our birth certificates and marriage certificate and, of course, money (A check made out to The Department of Homeland Security, which felt super important).
Now, we will wait until we are invited to be fingerprinted. We expect to wait a couple of months before we receive this invitation. After fingerprinting, it will probably be another month until we receive our approval.
We almost have enough money set aside for the next fee! We have really been seeing God's provision so far in the process. We still have quite a bit left in fees, but we will just take it as it comes. I am confident that God will continue to make a way! I am beginning to apply for grants and we will start thinking about our next fundraiser as well.
Thank you for your prayers and support!
Love, Dave and Sarah
